Cristiano Ronaldo will earn a reported £225 million over the course of a new five-year deal at Real Madrid.

The Portugal captain, who won UEFA Euro 2016 in July, will sign on at Santiago Bernabeu until 2021.

And The Sun claims Ronaldo, 31, will earn £45 million ($55.8 million) a season, with a buyout clause of £900 million ($1.1 billion).

That is as much as the reported buyout clause in a new deal signed by Gareth Bale, Madrid's other main superstar.

Bale scored twice on Sunday as Madrid completed a 3-1 victory over Leganes that moved the club back over Barcelona to the top of La Liga.
