Husky Wanting a Bandage to Be Like Sister Melts Hearts: 'Sympathy Love'

An adorable video of a Husky having a bandage put on his leg because he "wanted to be included" has delighted animals lovers on TikTok.

User Caitlin Mudka, @caitlinzmudka, posted the footage, which has been viewed over 525,000 times. Her husky is seen having a small bandage wrapped around his front leg, with a sad look on his face, as the text reads: "He didn't need the bandage, but he saw his sister get one and wanted one too."

In another video, Ms. Mudka explained how her other dog "cut her paw running around outside so we have to keep it covered. She hates it."

One user commented, "Huskies!!!! lol. I had to pretend to give mine an insulin shot like his sister got before he would eat," to which the original poster replied: "He waits to start eating to make sure he gets the exact same thing his sister does."

Pet website WagWalking reports that Huskies top their list of breeds requiring the most attention from their owners. Siberian Huskies are the 19th most popular dog breed in the U.S., according to the AKC, and website myhappyhusky.com agrees that: "Yes, huskies need a lot of attention. They are considered by many owners to be the most attention-seeking breed there is. They develop strong bonds with their owners and often crave their presence and attention most of the day.

"Huskies are notorious for craving the attention of their owner and anyone/anything else will be deemed as competition for that attention of yours."

Husky owners know how demanding their dogs can be, and happyhusky.com provides these tips for keeping your pup happy:

  • Spend time training your Husky everyday
  • Have at least two hours a day purely for exercise
  • Using interactive toys with your Husky
  • Have a grooming session every few days sitting down beside your Husky giving him a good brush for an hour
  • Take your Husky out and about whenever you run errands
  • If you work many hours, make sure you come home regularly to tend to your Husky (otherwise don't get a Husky!)
  • Spend quality time in the evening petting and stroking your Husky while watching tv. Easy!

User dogmom wrote: "Dogs are kids... Don't love one more over the other...Funny how oddly human they are."

User Elizabeth said: "Aww! One of our pups is afraid of thunder & wears a thundershirt. Her fur sister insists on wearing one too, even though she doesn't need it."

User Season Sky Eagle commented: "Aww. My husky does this. When my pointer puts her sweater on she wants one on too! It's so cute and no she doesn't need it but loves it!"
