'Cyberpunk 2077' News Coming Tomorrow at Gamescom

Cyberpunk 2077 hasn't had much new information since E3 2018, when CD Projekt Red debuted its latest trailer. While we don't know everything there is to know about CDPR's next game, we'll learn something new during gamescom tomorrow. This information comes from a tweet sent from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account.

Welcome to gamescom v. 2.18!

While the tweet is filled with techno-babble, the big takeaway is an "update" scheduled for Aug. 21. The same style of tweet teased the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 trailer, so it doesn't seem like this is some kind of misunderstanding.

What we can expect to learn in this update? We already know a decent amount about the world of Cyberpunk 2077, particularly its Night City setting. We even have some great reporting on a demo that took place behind closed doors at E3. It's likely this update will probably take the demo that press saw and make it public for everyone else.

It's also possible we'll hear something about multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077. Multiplayer was mentioned to be in R&D at CD Projekt RED, but developers insisted that any multiplayer component will be added post-launch. The main focus is on shipping the single-player game first.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll see a release date announced at gamescom. Based on interviews with developers, it sounds like work is still underway and more time is needed before any specific release announcements can start. I wouldn't expect to see a release date revealed until next E3.

So what do you think? Are you excited to learn more about Cyberpunk 2077 tomorrow? What do you hope is revealed in the announcement? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
