Hysterics at Dad Who Couldn't Bear Airport Baggage Pileup Any Longer

A video of a dad springing into action as bags are seen piling up at an airport has gone viral on TikTok.

The video, which appears to have been captured at France's Lyon Airport, according to a hashtag in the post's caption, was shared Thursday by @lilynicolesayre and has received 655,000 views.

A message overlaid on the clip reads: "POV [point of view]: Your dad has to take control at luggage collection because everyone else just stood there staring at the bags piling up, not doing anything and waiting for someone else to make the first move."

The footage shows the dad stepping onto a baggage belt and moving some bags around to make some space in front of the unloading portal where the luggage is dispensed. Another man is shown standing by the baggage belt, with his hands on his hips and surveying the scene.

A caption shared with the post says: "It's the guy with his hands on his hips watching for me."

As commendable as the dad's initiative may be, passengers should be careful when handling baggage.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration says that "the body postures, repetitions, and forces required to lift, lower, push, pull, or carry passenger baggage can create potentially serious ergonomic hazards."

Most domestic passengers in the U.S. arrive at the baggage claim area before their bags are unloaded onto the claim units, according to a baggage claim model guide published in 2010 by the National Academies Press. And "most bags are claimed on the first revolution of the claim unit."

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) says that "the baggage claim area of an airport is susceptible to high passenger footfall and physical contact with luggage carts, baggage, washrooms and other facilities."

"All efforts need to be made to provide a speedy baggage claim process and ensure that passengers are not made to wait for excessive amounts of time in the baggage claim area," the ICAO adds.

'Man of Action'
