Deaf Boy's Reaction to Man's Sign Language Proposal to His Mom Melts Hearts

The heartwarming moment a man proposed to his girlfriend using sign language in order for her deaf son Harry to understand has gone viral online as users dub it the "best proposal ever."

Georgia Harrison from the U.K. shared the amazing moment to TikTok on July 21, where it has since gained over 1.7 million views and 390, 000 likes.

Harrison's partner proposed to her in İçmeler, Turkey, but made sure to include her son in the experience, choosing to ask the big question in British Sign Language.

In the U.K., stats suggest there are at least 50,000 children who are deaf and it's estimated that around 151,000 people use British Sign Language. Videos posted by Harrison's TikTok account show Harry showing his sign language skills with "quick signs" from images on an iPad. According to Harrison's account, her aim is to spread awareness for deafness.

The clip showed images of the happy couple, along with her four-year-old son on their family vacation, followed by a sneak-peak of the glitzy ring. "POV: Your boyfriend proposes to you in sign language for your deaf son," wrote Harrison on screen.

Harrison's fiancé was captured in the viral video getting down on one knee, using British Sign Language to propose. His bride-to-be was left with her hand over her mouth in shock, but it was the reaction of the son that captured the attention online.

He was unable to contain his surprise and similarly threw his hand over his mouth. He went on to gasp with widened eyes before grabbing onto his mom.

Viewers of the clip were left in tears by the interaction, and especially the young boy's reaction to it all.

"That is pure love, not only for you but your little boy," wrote an impressed TikTok user.

"This is just beautiful to watch," added another.

One described it as "by far the best proposal i've ever seen."

"Why am I crying?" asked another viewer. "Your son's face was everything. What a gem."

Newsweek has contacted Georgia Harrison for comment.

In June, a British Sign Language interpreter went viral on TikTok for her impressive work at the Download heavy metal festival in England, where she signed along to the music at full-speed for heavy metal band Alestorm. The interpreter was dubbed the "highlight" of the festival.

Sign language interpreters are an essential part of festivals for many, with research finding that over three million deaf and disabled music fans attend them each year.
