Destiny's Child Drive Fans Wild as They Reunite for 'Group Chat'

Fans of Destiny's Child were given a treat on Wednesday, when singer Michelle Williams shared a snapshot of herself reuniting with her bandmates.

The musician, 41, took to Instagram to post the image, which showed her posing in the kitchen alongside Beyoncé, 39, and Kelly Rowland, 40, who cradled her four-month-old son, Noah.

Captioning the image, Williams—who recently released her book Checking In, in which she documents her mental health journey—wrote: "Checking In Group Chat. Everybody's in the 'kitchen!'"

Adding to the visuals, Illinois native Williams also posted a series of audio clips from her discussions with her fellow singers.

She wrote: "Look who checked in yesterday with me!! The only time we'll let y'all eavesdrop on our group chats!! #checkingin #thereunionyallhavebeenwaitingfor."

The star added: "I love my girls to life! Thank you ladies for this! Alright, my new book Checking In is available NOW! Check in with yourself Check in with others Check in with God I love you, goodnight!"

In one of the recordings, Beyoncé could be heard saying: "Oh, we love and miss you so much. We're so proud of you, Mimi.

"You are so inspirational for both of us—and we just love watching you become exactly who you are and the world [to] see your impact, wisdom and beautiful advice."

Rowland asked Williams: "What do you hope the world gains and the knowledge they gain from your book?"

Williams responded: "It's OK to not be OK, and it's OK to tell somebody you're not OK. I honestly should have done that with y'all.

"I've been open about a lot of things but I was never really truthful about how I really was.

"Even though y'all have proven to be safe friends, safe sisters, sometimes people have to know you're not going to be looked at differently.

"If you say, 'Y'all, I've been really sad too long. Something's going on.'"

Rowland was heard responding: "You have to allow yourself to hold a safe place and a safe space for all friendships, to be able to check in.

"It's a blessing to be able to have that. If it's your person, there's nothing they'll judge you for.

"That's the greatest thing Destiny's Child has ever given me. My gift of friendship with you ladies."

Beyoncé added: "Absolutely. Kelly and I feel so honored we are now your safe space where you can express any and everything.

"We know you are that for us, and you've always been that for us, so we're just happy to be along this journey and happy to witness the birth in your new chapter."

Looking back on the longevity of their friendship, Beyoncé said: "It's 20 years. It ain't going nowhere!"

Of course, their reunion didn't run short of sparking speculation of a musical reunion, when their discussion turned to food.

"What kind of soup are you making?" Beyoncé asked Rowland, to which she responded: "Chicken and rice soup."

Williams then said: "She's cutting celery and carrots. Are you making some musical soup right now?"

Rowland then quipped: "I'm cooking some music—that's Chef Boyardee and Chef Boy-Kelly. You know I'm editing that s*** out!"

Commenting on the posts, Beyoncé's mother Tina Lawson expressed her joy, as she wrote: "I love this!!!!! WOW !!!! This makes me extremely happy."

Fans also took to Twitter to gush about the reunion, with @JAMILOCKETT8 writing: "That audio of Beyoncé, Michelle & Kelly made me teary-eyed. They really are sisters for life."

"Omg! Hearing Michelle, Kelly & Beyonce talk like old friends is making my heart melt," said @Ms_Marvel_Girl.

Added @MJFINESSELOVER: "That photo of Michelle, Kelly, the baby, and Beyoncé is beautiful!"

Destiny's Child announced they were disbanding in 2005, though they reunited for Beyoncé's Super Bowl performance in 2013 and her Coachella show in 2018.
