Man Decides to Get Rare Kitten, Never Imagined He'd Be 'God Of Chaos'

A video of a hyperactive kitten deemed the "god of mischief" and "chaos" has gone viral on Instagram.

The clip was shared by Chris Corsini (@chriscorsini) and has had 1.3 million views since it was posted on February 8.

A message overlaid on the screen says: "My six-month-old Devon Rex, Loki is UNHINGED." The footage shows a kitten sitting on top of the head of a man in a cap who's holding a phone in front of his face.

The man says: "Get a cat, they said. It'll be nice, they said." The clip shows the cat reaching toward the phone while moving around on the man's head.

"This is my life now," he says in the clip. The video shows the feline scrambling around his head and climbing up his chest, before later hanging from a lampshade.

The cat's antics in the viral clip are unsurprising because Devon Rex cats are described as "mischievous and highly active" by The International Cat Association (TICA).

These playful cats "want to be involved in everything" and are "powerful jumpers," TICA noted, adding "expect to find them perching on the top of doors or climbing to some previously unexplored spot."

TICA said: "Although they are interested in everything going on around them, Devons are very people-oriented and prefer to share their investigations with you so expect their company no matter what you are doing."

The Devon Rex is a relatively rare breed known for its unique appearance, featuring "a characteristic elfin look," with its large eyes, short muzzle, prominent cheekbones, and low set ears, as described by The Cat Fanciers' Association.

A cat's urge to climb and jump helps satisfy some of their natural instincts, Vicki Jo Harrison, the president of TICA, previously told Newsweek.

"Cats climb trees and leap long distances to move through their territory, avoid danger, and find food," Harrison said, and many domesticated cats attempt to maintain these instincts, even when they're living indoors.

Pam Johnson-Bennett, an author of several books on cat behavior and training, previously told Newsweek that some felines prefer being in high places to feel more safe.

"Being in an elevated location is natural for cats because it gives them more ability to see around them and it prevents being ambushed from behind," Johnson-Bennett said.

The 'God of Mischief' and 'Chaos'

The man in the latest viral clip says: "This what my life has become." The kitten is shown draped over his head while he moves across a room and a message across the screen says "Fly hooman. Shut up."

The feline is later seen crawling up his chest before nearly falling off his back as the man gets startled and says "Oh my God. Are you okay?"

Another message across the screen says "What if I just..." as the cat is seen eyeing the wire rim of a lampshade hanging from the ceiling.

Spotting the cat's moves, the man says "You are not" as a note across the clip reads "I am." The feline is later shown hanging from the wire rim, holding onto it with its front paws, before the man grabs the kitten down. "Loki, oh my God," he says while laughing hysterically as the clip ends.

Instagram users were amused by the cat's "shenanigans," with several noting that it's living up to its name Loki, a god in Norse mythology known as a "trickster" whose main aim was to "always create chaos."
