Nicki Minaj's ex-boyfriend, rapper Safaree, claimed Minaj harmed him with a knife. Safaree said he was hospitalized and said he tried to kill himself so Minaj wouldn't go to jail. He unloaded the alleged details of the incident on Twitter Tuesday.
"Remember the night you cut me and I almost died the police and ambulance had to take me out the crib on a stretcher and I had to lie and tell them I was trying to kill myself so they wouldn't take you to jail," the tweet read. "When things like that start happening more than once it's time to dip."
Safaree addressed Minaj as "you," in a series of messages, though he did not tag her or name her directly. He also commented on his decision to leave the relationship with Minaj.
"Towards the end it got toxic and I just packed up and left. I did things for spite and so did you," Safaree tweeted. "I don't wish you bad and I don't want us back together just like I'm sure you don't. I don't need you. You don't need me but we will always be linked in the public no matter what."
Minaj answered on her own Twitter account.
"Ha! Stop saying u packed and left! On Jesus, you came to my house CRYING BEGGING to go with me to Europe to the EMAs. I said NO DUMMY," the tweet read. Minaj continued to post on social media.
The former lovers were in a similar Twitter spat back in 2014. At the time, Minaj claimed Safaree was attempting to blackmail her in a series of now-deleted tweets, MTV reported in December 2014.
"Haven't you learned that God is in control? Stop while you're ahead," one of Minaj's messages read. "Anything you don't appreciate will be taken. God sees your ungrateful evil soul. I gave and gave and gave. Threatening me? Blackmail? Jump."
Safaree responded in the same fashion.
"We're not together anymore. I'm fine with that, but I'm not going back and forth w/u on here. I cant believe we're doing this. We use to laugh at people for this," he tweeted. "I just got off the phone with your mother and come off to this..pls [sic] stop. We don't have to ever speak again in life but doing it like this....no."
The ex-couple dated for 12 years before splitting up. Safaree noted a change in the couple's relationship toward the end, which is why he left.
"I just got to the point where the respect wasn't there," he told E! News in 2015. "Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got the point where it was like, I'm your man. I'm who you go to sleep with every night. I'm who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man."
