Disneyland Instagram Hacked as Racist, Offensive Posts Shock Internet Users

A spate of bizarre and racially insensitive posts appeared on the official Disneyland Instagram account today, with a self-proclaimed "super hacker" announcing they had hacked the account.

Identifying themselves as David Do, the individual posted a string of odd posts to the theme park's account, which contained foul and racist language, along with some selfies.

The first post was 3:50 a.m., PT with the caption referring to a "super hacker that is here to bring revenge upon Disneyland."

Newsweek has confirmed that four posts were added to the Disneyland account along with two stories before they were removed.

In one post, the hacker claimed to have "invented COVID and blamed it on Wuhan," and is "working on COVID20," amongst other expletives and slurs.

A spokesperson for Disneyland Resort confirmed that their Instagram and Facebook were hacked and that an investigation has been launched.

"Disneyland Resort's Facebook and Instagram accounts were compromised early this morning. We worked quickly to remove the reprehensible content, secure our accounts, and our security teams are conducting an investigation," a spokesperson told Newsweek.

The Disneyland account has 8.4 million followers and many people commented on the now-deleted posts, expressing their confusion at the situation.

On Twitter, social media users are discussing the cyber security breach on the platform, with many expressing their shock.

"Did not expect to see the Disneyland Instagram get hacked and be covered in racial slurs today. Oh boy," reads one tweet.

While another added: "OMG I can't believe I saw when Disneyland account got hacked today #disney."

"Naw Disneyland account being hacked by a racist wasnt on my bingo card this year LMAO," said another.

While another tweeted: "ok who's up and just saw the disneyland ig get hacked i am SCREAMING??????"

Another added: "Someone hacked the @Disneyland Instagram and it's really disgusting."

"It wasn't even the least bit funny, just racist and sad. #disneyland #hacked," said another shocked internet user.

Another added: "Can't believe I was awake to witness Disneyland's Instagram account getting hacked, what a time to be alive."

Disney has had issues with cyber security in the past. Back in 2020, thousands of Disney+ accounts were hacked and sold online, with customers' credentials stolen during the breach.

At the time, Disney+ told Variety that it had seen "no evidence of a security breach" on its servers and that only a "small percentage" of its users had their login details compromised.

"We have found no evidence of a security breach," a spokesperson told the outlet. "We continuously audit our security systems and when we find an attempted suspicious login we proactively lock the associated user account and direct the user to select a new password."
