If you think dogs can't take selfies, you're wrong! A dog named Django has delighted the internet after his owner shared a clip of the two of them taking a cute selfie.
In the viral video, shared on TikTok on Monday under the username djangosmiles, the pup can be seen sitting by his owner, who is trying to take a selfie with him, striking poses for the camera.
He is all in for it, and when his owner asks him to say cheese for the camera, he can be seen showing all of his teeth in an attempt to strike the biggest smile for her.
Dogs are among the most intelligent animals. They can learn about 165 words on average, and they are very good at reading our body language. Some dogs are even able to recognize their owners in pictures.
But while they can tell your face in still photos, are they able to see it through a phone? According to dog wellness experts at Rover, probably not, and that's due to one thing, known as "flicker sensitivity."
Flicker sensitivity is the rate at which an animal's eye can images and perceive motion, which for dogs is at least 25 percent faster than humans, meaning that while they're great at detecting motion, they have a hard time identifying moving images on screen.
However, some dogs are able to recognize people or other animals on TV, but that's because the big screen makes it easier for them to process the images.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across Instagram. It has so far received more than 274,400 views.
One user, JustJosh, commented: "He just had to load up the super cheese." And Deane Henryson said: "We have to do it over again, he's not looking at the camera." Spectrum added: "He was paying attention...a side cheez it was!"
