Dog's Battle With Bed Sheet Goes Exactly as Expected: 'Escalated Quickly'

If you've ever watched something unfold and thought about stopping it, but also wanted to see how it played out, then you will know exactly how this woman felt as she watched her dog battle a bed sheet.

Making the bed should have been an easy task for Ashley Owens, 34, from Charlotte, North Carolina, but not with her rescue dog Dolly nearby. After the first sheet had been put on the bed, Dolly refused to budge, so Owens jokingly put the second sheet over the top of her instead, and you can imagine exactly what happened next.

Owens thought Dolly would move as soon as she realized that she was trapped under the bed linen, but after rolling around and getting herself tangled, Dolly spun off the bed entirely. At the time, Owens thought Dolly would find her way out from underneath the sheet. She told Newsweek that she "definitely was not expecting her to fall" off completely.

"She wouldn't get off the bed because she was fixated on her bone, so I assumed when I put the sheet over her, she'd jump off. She did not; she was under there chewing away at her bone for several minutes before I started filming her," Owens said.

"I felt so bad when she fell, but it happened so fast and I had no time to react. She immediately popped up after, though, and I realized she was fine," Owens added. "It definitely scared me though."

Dolly loves to get under the covers with Owens most nights, but she has never managed to get herself tangled up in the blankets before. She "loves to roll around" in the bedding, but this was the first time she had ever managed to fall onto the floor completely.

As soon as Owens knew that Dolly wasn't hurt, apart from maybe her pride, she shared the video with her friends and boyfriend to show just how clumsy Dolly truly is. But after seeing how funny they found Dolly's dramatic fall, she couldn't resist also sharing it on TikTok (@aashleyy_o), and the clip went viral. Since the clip was posted on April 12, it has already gained more than 1.7 million views and over 376,000 likes so far.

"Most of the responses were positive, and everyone got a good laugh out of it. I saw a few people who said she could have gotten hurt, which is a fair point, but luckily she was fine and I caught such a funny moment on video," Owens told Newsweek.

"I'm glad everyone got to experience her hilarious personality, she keeps me on my toes and she's just the sweetest girl."

TikTok users can't get enough of how much Dolly's antics "escalated quickly," and the post has already amassed over 1,280 comments at the time of writing. One comment reads: "She hit the spin cycle."

Another person wrote: "the way she just tornadoes the sheet around her."

A third TikTok user posted: "She wanted to become a butterfly so badly."
