A woman has shared on social media the moment her dog sat by the door with her forgotten lunch bag, waiting for her to return.
While forgetting a packed lunch is a common enough mistake to make, how many dog owners can say their pup would guard their food without eating it?
On TikTok, user @jen.jennings posted a video showing what happened when she seemingly left the house in a hurry, leaving her bag behind. In the video's caption, the user wrote, "POV: You forget your lunch on the counter so your dog brings it to the door for you and waits for you to come back."
The video has received more than 1 million views and 285,000 likes.
"We don't deserve dogs," the TikToker added in the post's caption.
In previous videos, @jen.jennings has said her dog, Cooper, is a rescue pup.
The patient pooch is of medium build and has a light blond coat and floppy ears.
Newsweek has reached out to @jen.jennings for comment via Instagram. We could not verify the details of the case.
In the footage, Cooper looks out a window as he waits beside the door with a black bag. It's unclear how long the dedicated canine stood guard, as the 17-second clip ends without him leaving his spot or his owner returning.
The video has received over 1,400 comments, with many users saying they were left teary-eyed by Cooper's loyalty.
"I'm crying. Go home now and give that boy a treat," one user wrote.
"Oh to have a little fur baby at home worried about my forgetting lunch. I'm sorry, but I'd quit my job and become a stay at home dog mom," another added.
"I'm an emotional wreck this would have broken me," a commenter said.
In another story of canine selflessness, Spencer, a 3-year-old Doberman, shared his meal with his favorite stuffed animal, dishing out half of his dried food to the blue turtle.
However, not all dogs are as well-behaved as Cooper and Spencer. In September, a Great Pyrenees named Pinky accidentally ate his owner's lunch and proceeded to ignore her when she called his name, except to give her "multiple side eyes."
