Tom Steyer, founder of a campaign to impeach President Donald Trump that reached 7 million supporters on Monday, has a message for the commander in chief: "You are the crisis in our country."
"Mr. Trump, there's good news. The 7 millionth American signed our petition to have you impeached and removed from office," the billionaire Democratic donor and Need to Impeach founder said in a video he shared Tuesday on Twitter.
"Across the board, Americans are understanding that you are the crisis in our country," Steyer said. "And that the sooner you're gone, the better."
Steyer continued with a call to "patriotic Americans" to add their names to the online petition pushing for Congress to begin proceedings to remove Trump.
"Mr. Trump, let me ask you to figure out how to leave the presidency as soon as possible, with as little distraction and destruction of America as you can provide," Steyer concluded. "I hope you have a nice day."

The Need to Impeach campaign has amassed more than 580,000 signatures since January 3, when Democrats assumed majority control of the House of Representatives.
Need to Impeach spokesman Erik Olvera told Newsweek on Tuesday that the campaign has seen "tremendous growth" since it launched in October 2017, with up to 38,000 new signees daily since the new Congress went into session.
"Donald Trump is our national crisis," Olvera said. "Supporters, overwhelmingly, are tired of the status quo, and want the people we sent to Washington, D.C., to uphold their constitutional duty to protect our country and begin impeachment proceedings."
Earlier this month, Steyer said he had decided not to run for president in 2020. Instead, he plans to spend $40 million (or more) this year on Need to Impeach. "I will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to remove a president," Steyer told reporters in Des Moines, Iowa.
Back in October, Trump discounted Steyer and his rumored presidential bid. "He comes off as a crazed & stumbling lunatic who should be running out of money pretty soon," Trump tweeted. "As bad as their field is, if he is running for President, the Dems will eat him alive!"
Steyer plans to hold an impeachment summit later this month in Washington, D.C, along with a slate of town hall meetings across the country, primarily in states where Republican senators are up for re-election and in House districts held by Democratic representatives—such as Adam Schiff, Maxine Waters, Richard Neal, Jerrold Nadler and Elijah Cummings—who chair committees in charge of oversight and investigations that could begin investigating Trump.
