Donald Trump's Elvis Comment Sparks Avalanche of Jokes, Memes

Donald Trump sparked a wave of jokes and memes after suggesting that he resembles Elvis Presley.

The former president shared a photo on his Truth Social platform that showed his face spliced with the King of Rock and Roll's face.

"For so many years, people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike," Trump wrote in the post. "Now this pic has been going all over the place. What do you think?"

Trump has a penchant for comparing himself to well-known figures. He has long attempted to draw comparisons between himself and Abraham Lincoln, and more recently, said he was like Nelson Mandela.

Many took to social media to mock Trump's suggestion that he looks like Elvis, as well as question his mental state. Newsweek has contacted the Trump campaign for comment via email.

Trump "randomly posting that he looks like Elvis (he does not)" and other recent gaffes "has people finally seeing just how delusional, cognitively impaired, and utterly weird Trump's campaign is," Ben Meiselas, a co-founder of MeidasTouch, wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Democratic strategist Johnny Palmadessa said Trump "clearly has dementia."

"He just compared himself to Elvis because he believes they 'look alike,'" Palmadessa wrote on X. "He needs to seek help."

He also listed a series of mistakes the Republican frontrunner has made on the campaign trail, including confusing his Republican rival Nikki Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Haley has repeatedly questioned Trump's mental fitness.

Another person on X joked that Trump "looks like Elvis in the same way Nikki Haley looks like Nancy Pelosi."

Keith Olbermann also suggested Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, has dementia.

"Dementia J. Trump now trying to convince his cult he's somehow like Elvis Presley," Olbermann wrote on X. "You mean both brain-dead since 1977? You bet!"

Mike Sington, an executive at NBCUniversal, wrote that Trump was "delusional and egomaniacal" for making the comparison to Elvis.

Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of Meidas Touch, wrote: "I knew a guy who was a bodyguard for a lot of famous people from 1960-1990. He said he met 1,000s of celebrities & politicians. He said the 2 best looking men he ever saw in person were JFK & Elvis. Not Trump."

One person shared AI-generated images depicting Trump in an Elvis costume. "I can see clearly now; Trump looks just like Elvis," the post said. Others edited the photo collage to compare Trump to Adolf Hitler and Gollum from the Lord of the Rings movies.

It comes after President Joe Biden said on Saturday that Trump is "even worse in terms of his behavior than the last time in 2020."

"It's the weirdest campaign I've ever been engaged in," he said.
