Donald Trump Scores Poll Boost in Sweep of Swing States

Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in five of six swing states that could potentially decide who wins the 2024 election, according to a poll.

An Echelon Insights survey of 2,401 registered voters, conducted for the conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, shows that Trump is ahead of Biden in Arizona (51 percent to 45 percent), Georgia (52 percent to 42 percent), Michigan (51 percent to 45 percent), Nevada (51 percent to 44 percent) and Pennsylvania (49 percent to 45 percent).

The poll indicates that Biden is leading Trump in just one key swing state, Wisconsin, and even then only by one point (47 percent to 46 percent). In 2020, Biden won all six of these states on his way to defeating Trump.

The survey is another worrying sign for Biden's reelection hopes, with the president facing concerns about his age, polling numbers and approval ratings amid a lack of enthusiasm for his latest White House campaign, as he gears up for a rematch against Trump in November. The Echelon Insights survey came as Biden was enjoying leads in numerous other general polls against Trump, or had cut the Republican's lead.

The results also show that nearly two-thirds (65 percent) of swing voters in the six swing states believe that the Biden administration has been either "mostly" or "a total" failure over the past three years, compared to 40 percent who consider it a success.

A majority of Hispanic men (62 percent), voters aged between 18 and 35 (60 percent) and married women (56 percent) also consider the Biden administration to be a failure.

A majority of swing voters also blame Biden directly for inflation and the cost of living in the country (51 percent), as well as illegal immigration issues at the southern border (59 percent). They are set to be among the hot topics for voters heading into the election.

The poll also shows swing voters are more likely to trust Trump over Biden on a number of key issues, including securing the border, "maintaining peace and stability" around the world, ensuring a strong U.S. economy, and looking out for middle class families.

Biden is considered the better candidate by swing voters to deal with healthcare costs and student loan debt.

Overall, Trump leads Biden by 5 points in the survey (50 percent to 45 percent).

The Echelon Insights survey was conducted between March 12-19 among a sample of 2,401 likely voters in swing states (401 in Arizona, 400 in Georgia, 400 in Michigan, 400 in Nevada, 400 in Pennsylvania and 400 in Wisconsin).

The margin of sampling error is +/- 2.3 percentage points overall, +/-5.7 in Arizona, +/-5.7 in Georgia, +/-5.3 in Michigan, +/-5.8 in Nevada, +/-5.5 in Pennsylvania and +/-5.5 in Wisconsin.
