President Donald Trump has taken to bashing the ongoing Russia investigation in a whole new way—bemoaning the effect the probe has had on the "young and beautiful lives… with stars in their eyes."
The odd tweet, written by the president on Sunday, is something of a change of tack from recent messages slamming the probe, which have largely taken aim at Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
"Who's going to give back the young and beautiful lives (and others) that have been devastated and destroyed by the phony Russia Collusion Witch Hunt?" Trump wrote, although he did not go into details about which beautiful people had been affected by the probe.
"They journeyed down to Washington, D.C., with stars in their eyes and wanting to help our nation...They went back home in tatters!" the tweet added.

Trump has frequently referred to the ongoing probe as a "witch hunt," stepping up his attacks on the investigation after it emerged an FBI informant approached members of his campaign team to collect information about their potential Russian connections, NBC News reported.
Indeed, in addition to lashing out at the probe, Trump also demanded the Department of Justice look into the FBI's use of an informant.
"I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes - and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!" the president tweeted on May 20.
And in his online lambasting of the FBI, Trump came up against former FBI chief James Comey, who defended the department's use of anonymous informants and saw the pair go head to head once again.
"Facts matter," Comey tweeted last Wednesday following Trump's comments on the FBI. "The FBI's use of Confidential Human Sources (the actual term) is tightly regulated and essential to protecting the country. Attacks on the FBI and lying about its work will do lasting damage to our country. How will Republicans explain this to their grandchildren?" he added.
