MAGA Member's Donald Trump Tattoo Goes Horribly Wrong

A photo of a Donald Trump tattoo has gone viral online—but people are saying it looks like someone else entirely.

Internet personality Mike Sington took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a photo he found of the ink, which is of Trump's face and the words "Does this offend you?" Unfortunately for the owner of the tattoo, both Sington and other X users think it actually resembles Emmy winner and co-host of The Drew Barrymore Show, Ross Mathews.

"MAGA cult member shows off his new Donald Trump tattoo. Who's going to tell him it actually looks like Ross Mathews?" Sington posted to the social media platform. At the time of writing the post had been viewed more than 736,000 times.

Mathews told Newsweek that he'd seen the image circulating online and said in a statement: "I think it looks fabulous! Make America Gay Again! I'm Ross Mathews and I approve this message."

Newsweek contacted a representative for Trump for comment via email on Thursday.

People took to the comments of the post on X to share their thoughts on the inking.

"Might want to get a refund or a free removal. Yikes!" one person commented.

"OMG, NO - I love Ross!" said another.

"I was going to say Lindsey Graham in the 90's, but this is even better," someone else wrote.

"Life lesson for you MAGAs. Not every person likes Trump, be mindful of what kind of tattoo you want and place where you intend to get the tattoo form. But I ain't mad it 🤣 the guy got screwed big time," said a fourth.

Others pointed out that the picture was originally posted to X by the parody account @GaryPetersonUSA.

"It's a joke from a parody account. If you look at the dudes profile, [he] doesn't appear to be MAGA. He constantly makes fun of MAGA," one person wrote, to which someone else added: "He photoshops almost all pictures posted."

Someone else said: "Can't say I'm surprised you didn't do your research. Always some type of misinformation coming from your end. Not everyone gets things right, but you sure work hard at being wrong.

"It's one thing to not like trump or think he's wrong for some of the things he's done. It's another thing when you make it your entire existence on the internet to try and destroy him with your large following. Shameful and embarrassing."

At the time of writing the @GaryPetersonUSA post had 4.4 million views. Newsweek hasn't been able to verify the authenticity of the tattoo.

"If you're not showing off your new President Trump tattoo for #PresidentsDay, then you're not patrioting correctly. Sorry not sorry!" the account wrote on February 19.

It added: "Wokesters think I got ripped off, but they didn't see the joy in my tattoo artist's face, who was smiling so big there were tears in his eyes."

This isn't the first time that a tattoo of Trump has made headlines. Lil Pump—real name Gazzy Garcia—was criticized online after getting Trump's mugshot inked on his thigh, with the rapper sharing the artwork on Instagram in January.

Donald Trump Jr. gave his seal of approval though, commenting "Hell yea."

Lil Pump has been a long-time supporter of Trump and endorsed the business mogul during his second run for president.

Update 02/23/24, 2:26 a.m. ET: This article was updated with a comment from Ross Mathews.
