Why Kingo's Valet Karun Is the Real MVP of Marvel's 'Eternals'

There are many new characters introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Eternals, but none of the superheroes quite are equal to one of the most ordinary people in the film: Karun.

Karun, played by Harish Patel, is valet to Kingo, one of the Eternals who has become a huge star in Bollywood during his time away from his fellow heroes.

And Karun is by Kingo's side at all times, assisting him and bringing joy into his life without even realizing it.

So, what is it that makes Karun so special? Newsweek is here to tell you more.

He Is Always Prepared

As a valet, one thing that is always important is being organized and helping out your employer in every aspect of their life, and Karun definitely excels at that.

He is always happy to leave things behind and head out with Kingo at a moment's notice, and he's willing to do whatever is required of him like film the Eternal at all times for a documentary about his life.

Karun is so prepared, in fact, that he brought not one, not two, but three cameras with him (that we know of) so that he can document every moment in Kingo's life.

This is especially amusing when Eternals Druig (Barry Keoghan) makes him break one film camera, and Sprite (Lia McHugh) breaks the second, only for Karun to take out a third when the deviants attack them in the Amazon rainforest.

He Is Respectful

One thing that makes Karun a good person is how kind and thoughtful he is with the Eternals, not just Kingo.

For example, when Gilgamesh (Don Lee) is killed in battle with the deviants and the Eternals hold a funeral for him, Karun holds vigil and prays for him.

And later in the film, when Kingo decides to leave his fellow Eternals because he doesn't want to fight against Ikaris (Richard Madden), Karun also takes a moment to thank the Eternals for all they will do to save humanity.

His thoughtfulness and considerate attitude to the Eternals make him that much more endearing, and this certainly render him more interesting than some of the heroes he shows admiration for.

He Adds Great Comedy Value

Much like Kingo, Karun is the source of much of the film's comedy value, at least, as much as there is to be had in Eternals

One such moment comes when Kingo has a particularly impressive fight against a Deviant, and after defeating the creature he calls out to Karun to check if he "got that" on camera, which—as expected—he did.

He also has many of the funniest lines in the movie which certainly helped to make the film's slow-burn plot a little more upbeat.
