Everything Golden Retriever Stole From Day Care in a Day, Including a Sword

Internet users have been left in hysterics by this golden retriever who likes to keep his friends at day care on their toes by stealing just about anything he sets his sights on.

The staff at Canine College in Michigan certainly have their hands full with all the different characters they see each day, but it's Finn the golden retriever who keeps everyone guessing. Nothing is safe from his cheeky behavior as he will happily run off with anything from a water bottle, a cleaning brush and even a toy sword.

Staff at the day care never know what Finn's going to turn up holding next, and since they started documenting it on social media (@caninecollegemi), he's earned millions of fans worldwide.

In the viral video, which has been viewed more than 1.3 million times, the day care center rates every item that Finn steals that day. At the beginning of the clip, we see Finn running off with the staff member's jacket, which only gets a five out of 10, but his later findings earn him much higher scores. The water bottle he managed to take got full marks, and his giant toy sword earned an eight out of 10, which he'll be very pleased with.

Stealing items is a common behavior among dogs, particularly younger puppies with limitless energy, as they simply love chewing and tasting new things. It's their way of exploring and keeping themselves occupied, even if their owner isn't too happy about it.

Trying to get the item out of the dog's grasp is often the most troublesome part, as VCA Animal Hospitals explains that chasing after the dog turns it into a game and they'll think you're having just as much fun as they are. They certainly won't want to give up their new treasure once they get their teeth into it, so it's down to owners to counter this behavior early on.

VCA Animal Hospitals encourages owners to look for the dog's motivation to continue stealing—do they keep finding food that they get to enjoy? Is it because they're bored? Or is it just because it's getting them attention? Ensuring that the dog's needs are met and they're getting enough mental stimulation is a great way to curb any unwanted behavior.

While the day care staff might not appreciate teeth marks in their clothing or water bottles, it's impossible to be mad with Finn whenever he steals something. Most of the time, he means well, as the staff joked that he "just wants to help out sometimes."

Social media users can't get enough of the videos of Finn, with more than 258,600 likes and 900 comments on the viral TikTok post so far. Many people have demanded more videos of the curious retriever and more ratings of what he steals.

One comment reads: "He really do be retrieving."

Another person wrote: "I love how he's so proud of himself with every object in both part 1 and 2."

"You can't even get mad at him," insisted another TikTok user.
