The brother of child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey has been accused of her murder.

Six-year-old JonBenet was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her home in Boulder, Colorado, in 1996.

A team of investigators re-examined evidence in the 20-year-old case as part of a two-part, four-hour CBS documentary The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey, which concluded on September 19.

The team presented its conclusions in the final minutes of the program, saying the evidence points to Burke Ramsey, who was nine at the time.

Former FBI profiler Jim Clemente, along with forensic scientist Henry Lee, former chief investigator James Kolar and forensic pathologist Dr Werner Spitz, revealed that they believe Ramsey hit his sister over the head with a flashlight after a petty row over food.

Burke Ramsey has not been formally charged with a crime and denies the allegations.

At the time of the murder, the original suspects were her family—JonBenet's father John, mother Patsy and brother Burke. But in 2008, DNA evidence ruled that all three family members could not have committed the murder and they were cleared.

Burke Ramsey recently appeared in a series of televized interviews with Dr Phil, speculating that the killer was a pedophile who stalked her at pageants.

But CBS investigators concluded that DNA evidence found on JonBenet's underwear—which did not match anyone in her family—had no forensic value and that no sexual assault ever took place.
