Extravagant Valentine's Day Surprise Wows Internet: 'Imagine His Proposal'

Valentine's Day might still be more than a week away, but one couple have gone viral on TikTok for proving that romance certainly isn't dead yet.

When Rachel Rigler returned home from a lunch, she was stunned to see that her partner, Adam Huber, had poured her a glass of wine and placed it by the door so she could grab it as soon as she walked in. But that was only the beginning of the surprise; as she continued to walk through the hallway, she was greeted by the sight of flower petals perfectly laid across the floor.

Huber, an actor and model, placed the red, pink, and white rose petals so they read out, "Will you be my Valentine?" and he was stood waiting for Rigler at the end.

The couple never miss an opportunity to celebrate Valentine's in style, but this was certainly Rigler's favorite surprise to date. She told Newsweek that "it was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done" for her.

On February 4, Rigler posted the moment she walked into their home to see the surprise on her TikTok account (@rachelrigler), joking that she definitely wants to "marry this man." The clip has already been viewed more than 6.9 million times and received over 1.2 million likes in a matter of days.

"The video wasn't actually my first reaction," Rigler said. "I put my phone away to enjoy the moment with him before we did it over again for the camera. But as I was walking down the hallway, I could hear music blasting from our apartment.

"As I got closer, I saw the note on the door and could guess what he was up to. He knows how much I love Valentine's Day, so he always goes above and beyond to make me feel insanely special," Rigler added.

However, not everyone is as excited about Valentine's Day, as a recent YouGov poll of 1,000 U.S. adult citizens found that just 38 percent of Americans are going to celebrate it this year. It's more popular among younger people, as 47 percent of those aged between 18 and 44 plan on celebrating it, compared to 31 percent of those over 45.

When asked how they plan to mark the romantic occasion this year, 27 percent of Americans will give or receive a gift, and 24 percent will dine out at a restaurant. Contrastingly, 44 percent said they won't be doing anything special.

With a week to go until the big day, Huber and Rigler are only just beginning their romantic surprises, and social media can't wait to see what else they will do. After sharing the video on TikTok, Rigler has loved the positive response she has received online, and she hopes it will encourage more people to "put in the effort to make their partner feel special" throughout the year.

Rigler told Newsweek: "People have loved it online, but it makes me sad that so many women were commenting about how they'll never experience something like that. I strongly believe every woman deserves romance."

With more than 4,800 comments on the viral post so far, there was plenty of praise for the love between Huber and Rigler. One comment reads: "I love to see people being loved the right way."

Another TikTok user responded: "Gurl you won in life."

A third posted: "Imagine his proposal."
