Multiple People Dead in Falls Township Shooting

At least three people are dead in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, after a man opened fire in Falls Township on Saturday morning, according to police reports.

The Falls Township Police Department warned residents on social media that officials issued a shelter-in-place order, asking everyone to abide by "all instructions given" and exercise caution.

"Police are asking residents to lock all doors and move to a central and secure location away from windows," police wrote on Facebook. Newsweek contacted Falls Township's authorities and Falls Township Police Department for comment by email on Saturday.

The police later lifted that order, writing on Facebook: "The shelter in place has been lifted" just after 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Fox 29 reported that Andre Gordon, 26, allegedly shot his stepmother and 13-year-old sister, citing Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn. There were three other people inside the home, but they were able to hide from the alleged shooter. Gordon then reportedly drove to his home and shot 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, a woman who he shared to children with.

Social media profile Philly Crime Update wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that four people had been shot and killed in "three separate locations" and one other had been injured. The account said that police were looking for a man armed with a shotgun who had carjacked a gold Honda CR-V.

Representative Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, a Republican and Levittown native, wrote on X that there was an "active shooter alert" in Falls Township.

"We are monitoring a carjacking and a shooting in two sections of Falls Township," Fitzpatrick wrote. "I'm in touch with law enforcement officials as they pursue the suspect. More information to follow—please be alert of your surroundings and stay safe."

Gordon allegedly carjacked a driver at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Dollar General store in Morrisville. The driver was uninjured, according to police, as mentioned by Fox 29. The suspect then drove to Trenton, New Jersey.

The latest update by Fox 29 said that police have since located the SUV that the suspect was allegedly carjacked; it was found unoccupied in Trenton. Police said the suspect is barricaded inside a New Jersey home and had possibly taken hostages inside. CNN later reported that those individuals are now safe, citing police.

A picture of Gordon was shared by Fox 29 journalist Steve Keeley on social media. Gordon is described as 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a thin build and was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Fitzpatrick reshared all posts about Gordon as the suspect of the mass shooting. The Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act of 2012 defines a "mass killing" as "3 or more killings in a single incident" involving a firearm.

"I've been briefed on the developing incident in Falls Township, Bucks County and directed @PAStatePolice to coordinate with our law enforcement partners and provide whatever support is needed on the ground," Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro wrote on X.

The Gun Violence Archive said that, as of March 16, there were 76 mass shootings across the country since the beginning of 2024.

Update 3/16/2024 at 3:02 p.m. ET: This story was updated with additional information about the alleged crimes, the victims and comment from Pennsylvania's governor.
