Woman Wakes Up to Find Fiancé Hasn't Slept at Home, Stunned by Reason Why

When life gives you lemons, make... pizza?

One man's lighthearted reaction to a tricky situation, recounted in a video by his fiancée Dana Bezanis @dana_anastasia_, has earned him TikTok recognition. In the clip, Bezanis says that her fiancé had been locked out of their apartment the night before while trying to collect a delivery pizza. She had already gone to sleep, so he decided to check into a hotel room and update her about his adventure. The video has received cheers online for his humorous—and resilient—take on the situation.

"So, last night ... I guess he ordered a pizza I didn't know about, and he went downstairs to get it," Bezanis said in the video. "He forgot his keys, so he locked himself out, and he didn't want to wake up maintenance, so he got a hotel. He took his $270 pizza to a hotel room. You have to see these text messages."

The Importance of Play for Adults

The fiancé's reframing of a tricky situation into a fun one indicates an important propensity for play.

Researchers say that people who are playful are "uniquely able to transform virtually any environment to make it more stimulating, enjoyable and entertaining," according to a study published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

And this light-hearted, creative practice is important to individual and relational well-being. A study revealed playfulness in romantic relationships to be associated with the experience of positive emotion—and that with relationship satisfaction.

Bezanis' fiancé's "green flag" act then, as TikTok users put it, may have some pull in the realm of relationship science, too.

The fiancé's messages first explained what happened. Later, he wrote, "Got the pizza! Headed to my hotel room," with a photo of him holding a pizza box.

"Why does he look so happy?" Bezanis said in the video. "I'd be so mad and like, crying right now." She added that he also sent a video of himself in the hotel room partying.

Viewers of the video were touched and amused by the fiancé's relaxed attitude.

"Green flag all way! He just rolls with it," @kewiebs14 wrote.

"My ex did this but blamed me for having my phone on silent and didn't speak to me for days. Green flag here though!" @ellaclayden1 posted.

"I once also locked myself out of the apartment but proceeded to cry and knock for hours," @seasonedpair commented. "I should've done this!"

Some wondered why her fiancé didn't just call maintenance. Bezanis said that, besides it costing $100 to wake them up, it also points to another "flag" of her fiancé: "Eric's green but sometimes red flag is that he hates inconveniencing others," she wrote in the comments.
