For the second phase of Ram's "Built to Serve" initiative, the truckmaker is releasing a special edition 2022 Ram 1500 Built to Serve Firefighter Edition.

The new truck joins a growing lineup of Ram Build to Serve Editions. For more than 2 years running, the company has rolled out five special edition trucks, one for each branch of the U.S. Military. The Firefighter Edition is the first installment of the current phase, with trucks honoring police officers and emergency medical service providers to follow.

"After honoring each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces with our initial 'Built to Serve' models, we felt it would be equally important to also extend our gratitude to all first responders who serve or have served our communities," Ram CEO Mike Koval said in a press release.

"Whether a first responder or civilian, Ram truck owners are very familiar with this adage as it's something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce."

The company plans to offer two low-volume exterior paint choices for each vehicle that evokes the spirit of that service, Redline and Diamond Black.

Other unique styling cues include an all-black grille and surround bumper. The 20-inch aluminum wheels are finished in Technical Gray. There's also body color wheel flares. Black badges, wheel-to-wheel side steps and dual four-inch exhaust tips accent the exterior.

Built to Serve Editions are available in all body and bed styles, and powertrain options.

Each special edition truck will feature stitching colors that correspond to the service that's being honored. On this one, orange accent stitching is featured on the interior.

Velcro panels embroidered with "Built to Serve" mark the front seat and front seat inboard shoulder panels for customer personalization. Drivers can apply their own patches, flags, name tapes and slogans.

Pouch Attachment Ladder System/Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment (PALS/MOLLE) webbing dons the front seat back panels to attach extra equipment.

The Built to Serve Edition interior also gets a Black Onyx Chrome trim, performance cloth and vinyl sport seats, a "Built to Serve" instrument panel badge and all-weather rubber slush mats.

A lockable console storage is optional.

All Built to Serve models come with the 4x4 Off-Road Group package, which includes an electronic-locking rear axle, four skid plates, tow hooks, hill descent control, all-terrain tires and off road-calibrated front and rear shock absorbers.

Production starts this month and deliveries are expected to start this spring.

The 2022 Ram 1500 "Built to Serve" editions start at $46,625 and have an additional $1,795 destination fee.
