Five Family Members Arrested in London on Terror Offences

Five members of the same family were arrested by police in east London on Wednesday on suspicion of terrorism offences.

One 53-year-old women, a 51-year-old man, and three teenage girls aged 19, 17 and 16, are being held for questioning, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed. "All five were arrested on suspicion of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism," a statement released by Scotland Yard read.The 51-year-old man was additionally arrested on suspicion of possessing false identity documents.

The police said that the 16-year-old girl had previously been arrested on "suspicion of preparation of terrorism" in early July and had been bailed until September. Her relatives' arrests are part of the ongoing investigation.

Police confirmed that all five suspects arrested this morning are in police custody in a central London police station.
