THE STORY OF THE FLASH SEASON 5 SO FAR

Season 5 of The Flash begins with the Flash crew meeting Nora, who is Iris and Barry's daughter from the future. She has come to the past to experience the world during this time, but to also spend time with her father.

Nora reveals that after a crisis in 2024, Barry disappears and never returned. Which is why she came to his past to learn more about him. Barry decides to train his daughter, since she can't return to her own timeline thanks to negative tachyons in her bloodstream (don't ask, time travel).

During the first nine episodes, we learn that Cisco's powers are in a funk because of his breakup with Gypsy. Caitlyn's alter-ego, Killer Frost, has also returned.

The villain of this season is Cicada, a metahuman who can steal power from other metahumans. It seems that the cataclysmic event caused by The Thinker at the end of Season 4 has imbued multiple people with unique abilities. However, they receive powers from technology and not from their genes being altered like other metas.

He's killed multiple metahumans and almost has killed Cisco, Barry and even Elongated Man.

After recruiting another Wells from another Earth, the team eventually find out the villain's true identity and motivations. However, they aren't able to capitalize and Cicada escapes a long battle.

Although the threat of Cicada was vanquished, at least for now, another threat is about to hit closer to home. The first half of Season 5 ended with Nora returning to the future to talk with Eobard Thawne at Iron Heights. It seems they are in cahoots, but it's unknown what the extent of their relationship is.
