'Fortnite' Roadmap Reveals Battle Royale & Save the World Fixes for 3.6 & Beyond

Fortnite 's development team at Epic Games has revealed new roadmaps for Battle Royale and Save The World over the past few hours. While there's lots of vague language and minor tweaks, it's very clear that both modes will make huge strides towards completion in the weeks ahead. Downtime for update 3.6 will begin at 4 a.m. EDT April 24 for a full release later in the day.

BATTLE ROYALE ROADMAP AND FIXES FOUND IN 3.6

The latest Dev Update clip arrived Friday evening, and, while it didn't tell us much, there are a few things players should be on the lookout for. Those who were frustrated by the extended server downtime last week will be glad to know a full post-mortem is on the way to fully explain the nature of the issues. In a similar vein, Epic will also draft a post to outline its plans for quality-of-life changes in the months ahead.

While controversial weapon swapping and animation slowdown will largely stay in place as is, the official Trello board has a list of smaller fixes we can expect to see in the upcoming 3.6 update:

  • Builder Pro Issues With Running: If you've had to keep pressing the sprint button while using the Builder Pro control scheme, this will be addressed.
  • Builder Pro Issues With Firing: Also concerning Builder Pro controls, some players' guns stop firing after toggling in and out of ADS. A solution has been found and will be deployed.
  • Pop-In With Small Objects: Shrubs, small trees, wooden crates and bales of hay are having detail issues that will be fixed.
  • Broken Tactical SMG Reload: The SMG doesn't reload after its animation, forcing players to reload multiple times. It's been patched out and shouldn't be a problem for much longer.
  • Leviathan Outfit Textures: The outfit loses detail after elimination, but the problem has been resolved.

As far as content is concerned, the only clue we have is that the Battle Bus is headed to China. This might not have anything to do with Battle Royale specifically, but fans should keep an eye on Fortnite social media accounts on April 23.

SAVE THE WORLD ROADMAP AND INCOMING FIXES FOR 3.6

On the Save The World side, Epic offers slightly more detail with regard to the immediate future. A post on the game's official subreddit provides dates and the expected contents of upcoming patches.

Patch 3.6 [Week of April 23]

  • Noble Launcher in Event Store
  • New Utility Item
  • Energy ammo improvements
    • 25 percent more ammo per craft
    • 50 percent more Bacon in the world
    • 20 percent more Energy ammo in the world
  • Bullet Storm Jonesy Perks: The effects of "Start Up" and "Start Faster" should add instead of multiply. As a result, he's become overpowered. This will be fixed.
  • Weapon Swapping Impacts abilities: Problems with losing ability functionality will be resolved.
  • Broken "Return To Base" Button: Will soon function normally
  • "Goin' Commando" Doesn't Fire: This is caused by holding the fire button down while equipping. It will be fixed in the 3.6 update.

Patch 4.0 [Week of April 30]

  • Brand-new event
  • Shadow Ops Heroes
  • Military weapon set
  • New Soldier ability
  • More details soon

Patch 4.1 [Week of May 7]

  • New weapon
  • New Hero

Patch 4.2 [Week of May 15]

  • Perk rerolls

In terms of gameplay, the major details worth noting here are the first and last indents on the list. The increase in Energy Cells and Bacon means players will hopefully spend less time farming firepower for energy weapons and more time engaging with enemies. Perk rerolls have been in the works for quite some time as well, so it's nice to see a fairly solid date for deployment there too. With these changes in mind, there's been lots of emphasis on making sure weapons in Save The World continue to be fun to use.

A release date for Fortnite's 3.6 update has not been revealed, but, barring unforeseen development difficulties, we expect it to be live by Thursday of next week. The list also confirms previously announced details that Battle Royale Season 4 begins the week of April 30.

Fortnite is in early access across PS4, Xbox One, PC and iOS.
