Given how huge Fortnite's 6.0 patch was last week, it's no surprise this week's additions to the game are much smaller. The Chiller is definitely a cool tool to have in the arsenal, but it shouldn't drastically change how the meta evolves in the weeks to come. Its impact is unique, but it's essentially just another type of trap to be aware of on the battlefield. In that same vein, while the Playground Mode customization features are interesting, they don't exactly offer players truly free rein over what they can add or exclude. Hopefully, this is just a test run for deeper customization options in the future.

That being said, if it is a test, things haven't gone particularly well so far. While Playground Mode is featured in the patch notes, it's not the limited-time mode that's playable at the time of publication. As has become tradition almost every time the freeform match type is in play, Playground Mode's arrival has been temporarily delayed while developers work out the kinks. Getting bug fixes is always appreciated, but very little has changed in Fortnite today.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and mobile. Update 6.01 is live on all platforms and listed as version 1.82 on PS4.
