These Stores Will Give You a Free Turkey This Thanksgiving

Turkey is the centerpiece of most Thanksgiving meals, and according to the National Turkey Federation, farmers raised more than 210 million turkeys last year.

With that many birds in circulation, some stores have turkeys to spare. Check the list to find a free turkey near you.

ACME

States: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania

Dates: October 13 through November 23

ACME shoppers can get one free frozen turkey or turkey breast after spending $400 in the store at any point before the Friday after Thanksgiving. You don't have to meet the spending requirement all in one shopping trip.

Albertsons

States: Alabama, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Oregon and Texas

Dates: Before November 23

Some Albertsons will give you a free turkey when you spend more than $75, $100 or $150 (depending on location) in a single transaction. The spending requirement doesn't include the cost of the turkey.

Check your Albertsons weekly ad to make sure your local store is participating in the free turkey deal. Some are offering other turkey discounts.

Foodtown

States: New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania

Dates: October 20 to November 23

Spend $400 during the allotted time period and Foodtown will give you a free turkey. If you're not in the mood for turkey this year, you can also redeem the offer for other goodies, like a gift card, pork shoulder or spiral ham.

Check your Foodtown weekly ad to make sure your local store is participating in this offer.

Fred Meyer

States: Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington

Dates: November 15 to November 23

Fred Meyer will give you a free turkey when you spend $150 in a single trip. If that's more than you want to spend, you can get a turkey for .69 per pound with a purchase of $50 or more.

Giant

States: Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia

Dates: November 1 to November 23

Accumulate 400 points as a Giant Choice Rewards member by Thanksgiving to earn a free turkey. You can also redeem your points for a Stouffers party-size entrée or a tofurkey roast.

If you don't need it, Giant will let you donate your free turkey to a local food bank.

H-E-B

States: Texas

Dates: Through November 23

Get a free turkey up to 12 pounds when you buy an H-E-B spiral ham. See their website for hams and turkeys that qualify for the deal.

ShopRite

States: Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania

Dates: October 15 through November 23

Shop with your Price Plus membership card between October 15 and November 23. Once you reach $400 of spending, ShopRite will give you a free turkey or ham.

Weis Markets

States: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia

Dates: November 2 to November 23

Use your Weis Rewards Card between October 15 and November 23 to earn points. Redeem 400 points between November 2 and November 23 for a free turkey. If you can't earn that many points, Weis will still give you a discount—you get turkey for .69 per pound when you redeem 200 points.

WinCo

States: Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington

Dates: November 11 to November 23

Spend $125 in a single trip and WinCo will give you a free turkey. The price of the turkey doesn't count toward your spending requirement.
