Gal Gadot Leads Star-Studded Cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine' Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, But It's Not Going Over Well

Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot got a group of her A-list friends together to record a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" to put a little hope into the world amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but it isn't going over too well on social media.

Gadot posted a two-minute clip Wednesday on Instagram featuring celebrities including Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, Amy Adams, Kristen Wiig, Jamie Dornan, and Zoe Kravitz.

Gadot opens and closes the song while her Hollywood pals divvy up the other lyrics. The star-studded clip also features the vocal stylings of singer Sia, Jimmy Fallon, James Marsden, Cara Delevingne, Will Ferrell, and more.

The Wonder Woman actress said in the video that "these past few days got me feeling a little bit philosophical" and the coronavirus pandemic is a reminder "we're all in this together."

Gadot said her cover of "Imagine" was inspired by a viral clip of an Italian man playing the song on his trumpet to his neighbors. "There was something so powerful and pure about this video," said Gadot before breaking into song.

But the starry "Imagine" cover received mixed reviews on Twitter, where it was shared by a Gadot fan account.

"Cheesy and embarrassing, until they donate money, I can care less about this video," said one person in response to the clip.

Another said, "Boohoo. You are stuck at home with a full bank account and all the necessities. What are they doing as individuals to help???"

Gadot is set to reprise her leading role in Wonder Woman 1984, due for release in June. But with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic prompting Hollywood to push back several big summer releases, and movie theaters closing, studio Warner Bros. could well delay its release.

The James Bond movie No Time To Die was moved from April to November, while the ninth Fast & Furious movie has been pushed back by almost a year from May to April 2021.

Other movies delayed or pulled from release include Paramount's A Quiet Place Part II, Disney's Mulan, and 20th Century's New Mutants. Marvel Studios has also pulled Black Widow from its May 1 release date.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to the blockbuster hit Wonder Woman, which was released in 2017 and $821 million worldwide.

The sequel reunites Gadot, co-star Chris Pine and director Patty Jenkins. Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal, seen in Gadot's "Imagine" video, join the cast as villains Cheetah and Maxwell Lord.
