A leaked clip from Game of Thrones Season 8 have appeared online, potentially spoiling moments from Episode 4, airing Sunday on HBO, or plot points from the last two episodes of the series. While Deadline, Variety and other outlets have been unable to confirm which episode a clip uploaded to YouTube comes from, the spoiler-heavy video reveals the direction Game of Thrones is heading after the epic "The Long Night" episode brought a permanent resolution to the threat from beyond the Wall—the Night King and his army of the dead—which has been building since the very first episode of the fantasy series.
With Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 airing at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO, there's only a few hours before it's revealed exactly if the leaked clip fits into tonight's episode, or will instead be a reveal in the remaining two episodes of Game of Thrones. Assuming the clip is from Sunday's episode, this leaves only a few hours during which fans should avoid Game of Thrones-related social media and other possible spoilage avenues. Spoilers for what lies ahead in Game of Thrones Season 8 have appeared on at least two different Reddit subreddits: r/freefolk and r/ASOIAF (A Song of Ice and Fire, after George R.R. Martin's book series). On r/ASOIAF, the spoilers have largely been contained to a single post, which comes complete with a warning: " LAST CHANCE. ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO PASS BEYOND HERE."
The Freefolk subreddit, named for the wildlings who bow before no king, is a little more freewheeling. In addition to the major character death purportedly revealed in the leaked clip, r/freefolk posts includes descriptions from people who claimed to have seen the entire episode, potentially revealing a second major character death.
Additional leaks have also been reported, but since video clips are quickly scrubbed from Twitter, YouTube and other social media, what's revealed in the Season 8 leaks has mostly come down to secondhand accounts.
Since the leaks haven't been confirmed by HBO, there's no way to be 100 percent certain the video clip is even from an upcoming episode, but the possibility of a high-quality fake, complete with Game of Thrones-caliber CGI seems unlikely enough to discount the possibility of a well-planned hoax.
