'Game of Thrones' Season 8, Episode 5 Leaks Include Major Spoilers Confirming Fan Theory

May 13 Update: The leaked plot details from Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5, "The Bells," were remarkably accurate to what aired Sunday night. The link (posted below) to spoilers on Reddit's r/Freefolk includes details from the final episode of Game of Thrones, which are likely also accurate. Consider yourself warned.

Last week, leaked clips from the fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 appeared online, spoiling moments from the episode and unleashing a flood of additional details about how Game of Thrones will end. While there has been no similar showy release of clips from the upcoming episode, spoilers from Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 5 have leaked anyway, with multiple sources revealing likely plot points from the episode.

So much has been leaked from the final season of Game of Thrones, which can make it difficult to separate the speculation from the genuine spoilers.

Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 5 Spoilers: How To Read The Leaks

Several leakers have posted what proved to be genuine spoilers anonymously to Reddit, Twitter and other social media venues, but even those sources didn't nail every detail. Sometimes conflicting information has emerged, possibly because individual leakers have seen different parts of the episode, or seen the episodes at various stages of post-production.

This ambiguity lead to Reddit deleting a thread earlier this week, posted to subreddit GOTtheories, which purported to be pure speculation for Episode 5, but was believed to instead be based in leaks from the episode.

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, has even suggested that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have shot multiple endings, to throw spoiler-hounds off the scene. So verifying any specific leaked plot point from Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 5 will have to wait for the episode to air for full confirmation. But comprehensive leaks from Episode 4 proved accurate, so there's no reason to think these won't as well.

But enough with the caveats, anyone looking to be spoiled and read a convincing summary of the entire fifth episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 can read all the leaked details on the FreeFolk subreddit (named for the wildlings who kneel before no king), where Reddit user cgmcnama has compiled everything revealed from Game of Thrones Episode 5 and the final episode (complete with detailed sourcing on the reliability of the various leakers). Again, the above link spare no spoilers, detailing who dies, what happens and how the episode ends.

Speaking generally, these leaks, if accurate, confirm once and for all where many suspect Game of Thrones is heading in its final episode. Yes, the Mad Queen Theory looks definitive: Daenerys Targaryen is just like her father.

Cleganebowl is coming to "Game of Thrones" Season 8. HBO

So far, Game of Thrones creators and HBO haven't voiced much concern surrounding leaked episode details for Season 8.

Speaking with The Wrap, David Nutter, director of three Season 8 episodes (including the most recent, "The Last of the Starks"), said that most viewers don't seek out spoilers. "I think a lot of fans of the show might hear about leaks, but they don't try to find out what they are, because I think fans of the show don't want to encounter them," Nutter said. "I've never come across, as a casual internet person, a spoiler that I wasn't trying to look to find."

For the slightest of headstarts, if you must know what's in store before everyone else, we can use a spoiler to confirm the spoilers: if the episode opens in Dragonstone, you can feel confident you've been properly spoiled.

The penultimate episode of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
