Internet Obsessed With Gen Z Man Bringing Back 'Guyliner'

Ladies, get ready for your man helping himself to the contents of your makeup bag, as 'guyliner' makes its triumphant return to the mainstream.

The nostalgic trend is taking us back to our emo days, with video of an eyeliner look for men shared to TikTok has resulted in users commenting "bring this back" and demanding a revival.

Oliver Aull, who regularly tries beauty trends and shares his content to @oliveraull, shared how to achieve the "easy" smudged eyeliner effect that "looks good."

The look is clearly popular, as over 6.1 million people have watched the video since it was shared on April 2, receiving over 723,600 likes.

The latest in a long list of 00s beauty trends Gen Z are reviving, as the 25-year-old TikTok star is not the first to experiment with nostalgic styles.

The look hit its peak of popularity in the early 00s, thanks to the likes of Jared Leto and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who regularly sported the trend.

Eyeliner is often used as a tool to manipulate and change the appearance of the eye shape—a change that be clearly seen in Aull's tutorial.

How Gen Z Men Are Wearing Eyeliner

Using a black pencil eyeliner, Aull ran the product along his lower waterline to tightline and define his eyes.

After repeating this on his upper waterline, he used the same product to draw a line above his lashes to darken the lash line.

Finally, in a step that may make some skincare experts shudder, he used his fingers to rub his eyes, smudging the product.

What Do the Comments Say?

Viewers of the video loved Aull's tutorial, as one said: "Let's bring this back! I haven't worn guyliner if over 15 years."

"Guyliner 1000% should make a comeback," added another.

The look is one that highlights the eyes, as one viewer pointed out: "No cuz it really makes the eyes pop. it looks really good. I don't wanna tell guys what they should do but I wouldn't complain if more wore eyeliner"

For a more intense look on blue eyes, one user recommended: "Try brown! It'll help your blue eyes really pop."

The look seems to be a hit with women too, even unlocking animal instinct as one commented, "I'll turn into rabid dog if guyliner comes back."

"If guyliner comes back I will be feral," added another.

Maybe you should let your man help himself to your makeup after all...
