Giant Bear Steals 10 Burgers Off the Barbecue in Shocking Video

A large black bear has been filmed gatecrashing a barbecue in Tennessee and chowing down on no fewer than 10 burgers before making a quick escape.

In a scene that played out like a real-life version of Yogi Bear, the large mammal can be seen skulking around the back garden of a property in Gatlinburg.

The bear soon sniffs out the beef patties on the barbecue grill and can be seen lifting the lid to get to the food inside.

He wastes little time in devouring each of the 10 tasty meat treats. A few minutes later, the bear was spotted drinking from a pool of Diet Coke, having managed to open the soda can. You can watch the video here.

Seven empty chairs can be seen scattered around the backyard area, while the number of burgers being served suggests the occupiers had guests over.

Footage of the incident was posted to TikTok by a woman sharing clips under the handle melmelll7197. "Damn bears ate our dinner tonight," a caption accompanying the clip reads. At the time of writing, the video has been watched over 1.7 million times.

But while the incident may have been one to remember for the occupants and their guests, it could spell bad news for this particular bear in the long run.

As the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) warns, "[t]he survival rate of bears receiving food from people is likely a fraction of that of wild bears that do not have repeated contact with humans."

"The deliberate and accidental feeding of bears is socially irresponsible and causes animals to become conditioned and habituated to people," says the agency.

"Bears that habituate to human presence eventually become a threat to human safety. The end result is that such bears are often killed by intolerant and/or fearful landowners or have to be destroyed by the TWRA."

The TWRA's warnings were echoed in the most popular comment accompanying the video. "A fed bear is a dead bear. Glad you got to enjoy this moment. the bear will pay the price for your negligence," one TikToker wrote.

Others approached the clip with a little more levity though. "That was really nice of you to leave that feast for them," one user wrote. "Not the Diet Coke too," another added. A third, meanwhile, quipped: "Medium bear or well done."

Others were simply shocked that a bear would come up so close, never mind steal burgers."I get foxes that I've come outside and found standing on the side, bear? nope time to move," one user wrote while another commented: "All these bear videos make me thankful living in the city but it's great content." A third added: "Yeah too many of these videos surfaced today.....let's me know I don't need to go to these places"
