Watch As Goldendoodle 'Knocks to Come and Play' With Neighbor's Dog

Most of us have precious childhood memories of knocking on a friend's door and asking their parents if they could come and play, but as it turns out, some dogs love doing that just as much as people.

When Nicole Huynh moved to a new home in Los Angeles, California, she instantly introduced herself to her neighbors and their goldendoodle, Pita. As all the furniture was being carried inside and renovators were going in and out of the house, Pita took full advantage of the doors being wide open as she ran inside to meet her new furry friend, Huynh's dog Fia.

Once the two dogs met and started playing, Huynh told Newsweek that "they instantly became friends," and that certainly wasn't the last she'd see of Pita in her home. Now, the friendly pooch will tap on the door several times a week just to come and play with Fia, her fellow goldendoodle.

"When we first heard her little knock, we thought it was a delivery person or a neighbor," Huynh said. "But we opened the door to see Pita sitting there patiently, waiting to come in and play. We were so taken back by her human-like personality, Pita walked herself over and knocked just like a kid would do.

"Pita quickly figured out that we came to the door when she knocked, so now whenever the neighbors are in their yard or outside, she walks over to our door and knocks to come and play."

As it's become such a regular occurrence, and Huynh doesn't want to miss Pita's knocks, she's even changed the settings on her door cam to include animal movements outside. Now, whenever Pita comes across the lawn, Huynh gets a push notification on her phone to alert her.

"Sometimes we might be busy and not see our phones and we only see the footage later. She'll sit there patiently waiting to be let in for a bit, then go roll around in our front yard, and eventually walk back over to her house," Huynh said.

Moving to a new area can be difficult, but Pita and Fia's friendship has been "one of the most special things" about moving for Huynh, and their bond brings so much joy into her life. If it's raining for a few days and the dogs can't go outside, she says it "feels like something is missing." Hopefully the two pups will have many years of play dates ahead of them.

Since the footage of Pita knocking on the door to play was too cute not to share, Huynh posted it on TikTok (@thai.and.nicole), delighting many social media users. The clip has been viewed over 1.3 million times and gained more than 167,400 likes in only a matter of days.

The overwhelming reaction was very unexpected, but Huynh loves seeing how much joy the two dogs have brought to people.

She told Newsweek: "We are so grateful for all the love everyone has shared online. We try to read as many of the comments as possible and love hearing the stories others have shared about their pet friendship stories.

"Seeing Pita on the doorbell reminds me of how kids play together in the neighborhood. She comes over and asks very nicely to play, and of course we could never say no. We enjoy having her around, and it's brought us closer to our neighbors. Pita and Fia's relationship has brought us so much joy and brought some very special people into our lives as well."

The sweet clip of Pita has already generated over 1,000 comments on TikTok. One reads: "Pita said finally someone my age to play with in the neighborhood!"

Another person wrote: "Omg...not the Romeo and Juliet moment at the window. This is too adorable, don't ever separate them."

While another person joked: "I think you're never allowed to move again..."
