How Halsey Backed Taylor Swift's Latest Album That Supposedly References Shared Ex Matty Healy

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

We've got another Swiftie in the house, and this time it's none other than Halsey. The singer shared what appeared to be support for Taylor Swift and her new album on her Instagram story on April 25.

The Bad At Love singer shared a snap of her boyfriend, Avan Jogia, wearing Swift's The Tortured Poets Department sweatpants, and captioned the story with a white heart emoji. Halsey, 29, seemingly gave Swift, 34, her seal of approval on the new album, which allegedly features more than one "diss track" about their shared ex, Matty Healy.

Healy and Halsey ignited dating rumors back in 2015 shortly after his breakup with Gemma Janes. The couple never officially confirmed their relationship, however Halsey frequently posted photos of them together on social media, subtly acknowledging their connection. In an August 2015 interview with Billboard, she hinted at their relationship, further fueling speculation.

"We're both attracted to characters, and we saw that in each other. I spent a lot of time watching him, and he spent a lot of time loving being watched. But if you think he's the first red-wine-drinking, pretty-boy rocker in skinny jeans I've been associated with, you're out of your f---ing mind," she said in the interview.

Swift had a similar fling with Healy in 2023. While they initially crossed paths in 2014, the pair's romance only developed in the subsequent years. In 2022, The 1975 front man revealed that he had worked with Swift on a track for her 10th studio album, Midnights, although the song ultimately wasn't released. Their connection was evident when Swift joined Healy on stage at a 1975 concert in London in January 2023, and the following month, Healy was spotted at her Eras Tour concert in Nashville. By May 2023, they were seen holding hands publicly, marking a significant step forward in their relationship.

Swift has shown her support for the Without Me singer in the past. In August 2021 she posted on X (formerly Twitter), "I'm blown away by @halsey's artistry and commitment to taking risks. Giving us all a brave new era to dive into and explore together. If I can't have love, I want power is out now - please stream and buy the album!!"
