Hamas Is More Popular With Gen Z Than Hunter Biden

The militant group Hamas, which killed thousands in Israel and took hundreds of others hostage, are viewed in a better light by Generation Z than Hunter Biden, according to a new poll.

The war between Israel and Hamas, a militant group designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization, has resulted in approximately 30,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza, including some 12,300 children, the Associated Press reported, citing the Gaza Health Ministry. Israel declared war after Hamas attacked and killed about 1,200 people and took 240 people as hostages.

Hunter Biden, 54, the son of President Joe Biden, has been a constant Republican target since they took over the House of Representatives following the 2022 midterm elections. The 54-year-old has been in and out of courts for years due to his tax history and history of drug abuse, providing fodder to political opponents who have accused both him and his father of nefarious business activities abroad in countries including China and Ukraine.

Hunter currently faces three gun charges, alleged by federal investigators to have lied about his drug use while applying for a firearm permit. These charges were brought after the FBI claimed to have found cocaine residue on a gun pouch that he owned in 2018.

The newest Harvard Center for American Political Studies (CAPS)/Harris Poll shows Hamas garnering 27 percent of support from those aged 18 to 24, higher than the 19 percent garnered by Hunter Biden among the same age group.

In terms of being viewed unfavorably by the same age bracket, Hamas was viewed as such by 45 percent of poll respondents while Hunter was viewed unfavorably by 59 percent. That translates to a net favorability of -18 for Hamas and -40 for Hunter Biden.

The survey included 2,022 registered voters polled by The Harris Poll. It was conducted online between February 21 and 22.

The same survey shows former President Donald Trump leading President Biden by 6 percentage points in a hypothetical general election rematch this November, 48 to 42 percent. Another 9 percent of respondents said they remain unsure who they will support.

President Biden was viewed unfavorably by 57 percent of those aged 18-24 in the same survey, while Trump was viewed unfavorably by 39 percent of the same age group.

Trump, the GOP front-runner for the nomination who has faced dozens of criminal charges stemming from four indictments, continues to bolster his conservative base. While the prospect of the president potentially being a convicted felon has not caused his party to retrieve from him, questions about Biden's age have resulted in low approval ratings he has had difficulty shaking off.
