Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Potions Guide - Master Notes Gestures, Brewing Recipes and More

One of the many skills you'll learn while playing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is potion making. The game includes 9 different potions, elixirs, and draughts for players to brew up in their pots, that do everything from healing your character granting focus while spell-casting. While the tutorial introduces you to potion brewing, some of the finer details of the process are left for the user to discover — particularly when it comes to speeding up the brewing process. While each potion requires different amounts of time and ingredients to brew, there are ways to hurry the process along without spending your hard-earned coins. In this guide, we'll be going over everything you need to know about potions, including recipes, how to brew, master notes gestures and more.

What are Potions? How do I use a Potion?

Potions are a resource in the game that can be bought or brewed. Potions grant players a variety of advantages from focus during a battle, increased XP during Wizarding Challenges and more.

There are a couple of different types of potions. Those you use before an encounter and those you use during one. For example, Baruffio's Brain Elixir is used before going out into the world as it will grant double XP for 30 minutes from Wizarding Challenges, Traces and Portkeys. To use a potion that grants a special skill for a select amount of time, Go to your Vault (inside suitcase icon) and tap on the Potions button. Potions that give perks for limited amounts of time will have a "Use" button under them.

The second set of potions are used during a battle to do things like heal you or improve your spell-casting ability. Here's how to use those:

How to Use Potions During Trace Battles and Wizarding Challenges

  • Enter a Trace battle or Fortress Wizarding Challenge but don't cast any spells yet.
  • Look in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and you'll see a potion bottle icon.
  • Tap on the bottle to go to your available potions.
  • Select any potion with "Use" under it.
  • If you aren't sure which potions do what, you can tap on the potion photo to read the description.

Some potions are given to you when you level up and you can also purchase potions in Diagon Alley, but the most cost-efficient way to get more potions is to brew them. Here are the basics for brewing:

How to Brew Potions

  • Tap on the suitcase icon on the main screen
  • Tap on Potions
  • Tap on the first box at the bottom of the screen. A potions list will appear
  • Tap on any potion that say "Brew" underneath to select it.
  • Wait for the timer to finish to collect.

How to Get Ingredients for Potions

You can find out what ingredients you need to brew a potion by opening your suitcase, tapping on potions and tapping on the recipe tab. If you discover you're missing ingredients for a potion you want to brew, there are three ways to get them.

  1. Find them on the map
  2. Visit Greenhouses and receive them as a reward (you can revisit a greenhouse every five minutes)
  3. Plant seeds in Greenhouses — you can check out our guide for greenhouses and growing ingredients, here

Potion Master Notes: Complete List of Gestures and How to Use Them

Each time you brew a potion, it'll take a specific amount of time to complete. There is a trick though to making these brew faster. It lies in using a set of gestures called Master Notes. For each potion, if you complete a specific set of gestures in the right order, you will reduce the brewing time by a significant percentage. Below is a list of all the gestures used in master notes and the secret Master Notes combinations for each potion.

Gestures

There are eight different gestures you'll need to learn in order to use Master Notes. They are pictured below along with a description for how to do them.
