Hillary Clinton Voters Blame Those Who Stayed Home in 2016 for Roe v. Wade

Twitter users have taken to protesting online as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to strike down Roe v. Wade, and many are blaming those who stayed home during the 2016 presidential election.

A leaked document revealed that the nationwide legal right to abortion could be overturned, as the report from Politico cited a first draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito.

The news broke on Twitter Monday night, and many people are blaming those who did not vote in the 2016 presidential election, stating that presidential nominee Hillary Clinton had been right all along.

Clinton warned in 2015 of the idea that Roe v. Wade could face a significant threat when she tweeted, "A Republican president could nominate as many as 4 Supreme Court justices."

Now, people on Twitter are up in arms about the people who did not vote for Clinton or did not vote at all in 2016, when she ran against former President Donald Trump.

"For those of you who CHOSE to stay home in 2016 because you thought Trump just couldn't possibly win," one Twitter user wrote, "This is your own doing."

"So, if you are a woman who sat at home and decided not to vote because you hated @HillaryClinton, or worse, you voted for Donald Trump, your reward is on its way to you. Congratulations," another said.

Twitter user Paul Gundlach wrote, "I am ready to fight – and I was in 2016 when I refused to stay home or cast a purity vote in protest. Hillary Clinton specifically warned us that this would happen and I listened. For everyone who did not heed our warning, this is on you."

"Hillary Clinton said... SCOTUS mattered. That #RoeVWade would be in danger if people voted for Dummy. And it wasn't just republican women who voted for his a**, some fake a** Democrat women did too," another Twitter user wrote on Monday night. "And some Dems sat their a**** at home, but I digress..."

John Pavlovitz, an author and pastor, wrote on Twitter, "If Hillary Clinton had been president in 2016, women would still have autonomy over their own bodies."

One user posted a video of Clinton speaking in 2016, saying, "Republicans are for limited government everywhere, except when it comes to interfering with women's choices and rights."

"Have you ever noticed that the same politicians who are against sex education, birth control, and safe and legal abortion are also against policies that would make it easier to raise a child like paid family leave?" Clinton said in the video.

Writer David Marcus tweeted: "If Hillary Clinton had won in 2016 Roe would have been safe for at least half a century."

The U.S. Supreme Court's decision is not expected for a few months.
