Hillary Clinton Tried to Cancel Interview Over Harvey Weinstein Reporting, Ronan Farrow Says

Hillary Clinton tried to cancel an interview with Ronan Farrow for his new book on the State Department because of his reporting on Harvey Weinstein, the author said in an interview Wednesday.

In an interview with George Stephanopoulos, Farrow said he had a scheduled interview with Hillary Clinton for his book War on Peace: The End of Diplomacy and the Decline of American Influence at the "height" of his reporting on the Hollywood producer and former Clinton donor. Farrow later published stories in The New Yorker alleging Weinstein was a serial sexual predator who deployed a vast network of attorneys and private investigators to silence his victims.

Farrow said Clinton's people contacted him about the story and "sounded very concerned."

"Hillary Clinton had scheduled an interview while I was at the height of the Weinstein reporting, and her folks got in touch and said, 'We hear you're working on a big story,' sounded very concerned, and tried to cancel the interview," Farrow told Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America.

"Over the Weinstein stuff?" Stephanopoulos asked.

"Over the Weinstein stuff," Farrow confirmed.

Farrow did eventually interview Clinton, who served as secretary of state under President Barack Obama, for his book on the State Department. In October, Clinton said she was "shocked and appalled" at the allegations against Weinstein. She also said she would donate political contributions she received from Weinstein to charity.
