House Cat Tries to Attack Prehistoric Predator: 'Finally a Worthy Opponent'

Cats are notorious for being afraid of nothing, thinking they can win any fight until they don't. One pet owner has left social media viewers laughing after revealing what type of animal the cat thought she could take on.

A March post shared on TikTok by annxpd shows the cat's hilarious reaction as a prehistoric tiger-like feline pops up on TV during a wildlife documentary.

As the TV plays, the gray cat can be seen confidently getting ready to attack the huge extinct beast on the screen, arching her back and pushing one of her hind legs back as if trying to gather strength and energy for a powerful attack.

The hilarious post comes with a caption that says: "POV: your cat thinks she can take a prehistoric predator."

Cats may be fearless a lot of the time, but they can sometimes develop fears. VCA Animal Hospitals says cats may become fearful for many reasons, including genetics and a lack of socialization. But in some cases it may be due to a traumatic experience.

One single frightening or unpleasant experience is enough to produce lasting fear for felines. This can sometimes be triggered by unrelated situations too.

"An example of a fear-inducing trigger might be a child suddenly chasing a cat while it was resting quietly. The cat might become afraid of all children as a result of this scary situation," VCA's website says.

The TikTok video quickly went viral and has received over 8 million views and 1.7 million likes.

One user, DelaCruzMora, wrote: "House cats have all the audacity. They're so delulu."

David said: "[Cat]: finally, a worthy opponent."

EmilyM24 wrote: "The thing I love about cats, is they will take on anything, they are afraid but they do it anyway, incredible animals."

Another user, Loopers, said: "My sister's cat would chase dogs out of our yard as a kitten at our old house, she was absolutely tiny but those dogs didn't want to risk it."

Linda wrote: "My cat did this as well but with a cgi buffalo but she was too scared of it and peed herself as she ran away."

Newsweek reached out to annxpd for comment via TikTok chat and could not verify the details of the case.
