Husband of 60 Years Giving Sweet Review of Wife's Passion Melts Hearts

A husband of 60 years has melted millions of hearts with a touching appreciation of his artist wife's work.

Alice Williams (@alicewilliams.artist) posted a TikTok video of her No1 fan only two days ago, and has received 12 million views and 2.5 million likes for the sweet review of her latest painting.

Watching her paint with rapt attention, Williams' husband says: "Absolutely incredible, God almighty". He opens the door, presumably to let paint fumes escape, and shakes his head "in disbelief".

The video has won widespread admiration as a display of long-lasting love and spousal support. In other videos, Williams reveals the pair have been together for 60 years, and are now sharing their lives in the south of France.

Newsweek reached out to @alicewilliams.artist for comment via TikTok.

The viral video earned Williams 40,000 followers, which she discovered in a video posted to her account. An unknown person behind the camera tells her the news: "Are you kidding?" Williams replies. "I didn't know so many people cared."

Nearly 7,000 commented on the video with their own stories of, or wishes for, supportive long-term partners.

"I just started writing again and my husband who loathes reading read my whole book in a sitting," @ashh.ii wrote. Told me about it in detail and got all but two answers right when I quizzed him. My ex told me writing was a stupid thing and no one would read it."

"I've just started baking sourdough, my husband has bought me tools he looked up to help and gets excited with me when my dough rises. Having that unconditional support and care is life changing," @lou9917 wrote.

"My grandfather built my nana an art studio with his own two hands. He died in 2007 and she gave lessons out of that studio until she died last summer," @phobicbolt wrote.

Others reflected on the impact of the absence of that support. One user, @mouseystardust, said that her ex told her her talent was "good, but not good enough to do anything with". She took a stable job so he could build his career, but at a cost. "I rarely even draw now," she wrote.

Williams' life certainly seems to reflect the effects of a supportive partner—and she seems grateful. In another video, she combines a series of clips of her and her husband: painting, dancing and holding hands.

"We may be old," she wrote. "But...this will never get old."
