In the laundry list of qualities making up a "perfect" partner, there's one we might not think of: Videographer.
One woman, Lashawn (@hey_lashawn), made the case for this in a viral TikTok video filmed by her husband who left the camera recording long enough to ruin a champagne-popping moment in Mexico. Since it was posted, it has received over 593,000 likes and over 2,300 comments.
"POV: Your husband doesn't know when to stop recording," she captioned the video. "He never gets the hint, even as I'm choking on champagne."
The video shows Lashawn on a balcony overlooking a beautiful beach in Cancún with a bottle of champagne. She pops the bottle, cheers, and then takes a sip—but then proceeds to choke and cough, all while the recording continues.
"Stop recording," she tells her husband with firm eye contact.
Viewers in the comments were tickled by the man's filming mishap, which may have been intentional judging by the laughter overheard in the video. But Lashawn said his inaptitude for videography stretches further.
When the pair were in Milan, Lashawn wrote that she did a full walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, expecting her husband to record it, but she realized he wasn't.
People online related to being on Lashawn's side of the camera.
"At least he hit record. My husband 'filmed' our pregnancy announcement but forgot to press record," @lelabrookeelias wrote.
"That's literally me with my fiancé," @meedaleen wrote. "He will just keep recording for infinity if I didn't stop him."
"He did it on purpose," @im._.bby wrote. "Our significant others are our biggest haters and lovers sometimes."
"I'll be saying stop through my teeth and he's still recording with a huge smile," @dutchess395 said.
Some though, highlighted the pressure Lashawn's husband might have felt when recording the video, chocking it up to gender dynamics: "My anxiety be so high recording my sisters and wife. Y'all be expecting angles and lighting like we went to school for this," @jamesjcarehomes said.
Several commenters likened the video to an "undefeated" popular video in which a man drinks Hennessey in good spirits before choking.
"Cut!" the man yells, as the person filming refuses to stop recording.
Despite the horror of the person in front of the camera, the hilarity persists at their expense—and there may be a growing online archive of letting-the-camera-roll hijinks.
"Not him recording while you're fighting for your life," @abenatimah_ wrote.
