'I'm Happy He's Dead': Cindy McCain Exposes Twitter Message Attack of Late Former Senator John McCain and Meghan McCain

Cindy McCain, wife of former Senator John McCain, took to Twitter Tuesday to expose a profane message from a follower that attacked not only her late husband but also her daughter, Meghan McCain.

"Your husband was a traitorous piece of warmongering s*** and I'm glad he's dead. Hope your Miss Piggy looking daughter chokes to death on the next burger she stuffs down her fat neck too, c***," the private message read.

"I want to make sure all of you could see how kind and loving a stranger can be. I'm posting her note for her family and friends could see," Cindy McCain captioned a screenshot of the expletive-laced message.

The message came amid a series of tweets and statements from President Donald Trump disparaging John McCain, who died in August 2018 after a battle with brain cancer. That same day, according to USA Today, the president told reporters at the White House, "I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be."

The president's statement, made during an Oval Office meeting with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, followed a pair of tweets over the weekend insulting McCain.

Trump incorrectly asserted that McCain finished "last in his class" at the U.S. Naval Academy and claimed the late senator sent the infamous Russia dossier authored by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele to media outlets.

"So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) 'last in his class' (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election," Trump tweeted Sunday. "He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!"

One day earlier, on Saturday, the president tweeted, "Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier 'is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain,'" attributing the remark to Ken Starr. "He had far worse 'stains' than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!"

Meghan McCain, a co-host on The View, defended her father in a Monday segment of the show and thanked her fellow co-hosts and followers for their kind words.

"[Trump] spends his weekend obsessing over great men, because he knows it, and I know it and all of you know it: He will never be a great man," McCain said on the show. "My father was his kryptonite in life; he is his kryptonite in death."

John McCain was a United States Naval Academy graduate, a Vietnam war veteran and was held as a prisoner of war in the infamous Hanoi Hilton camp. He served as a naval aviator for 22 years, earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross, according to his website. The former Arizona senator ran for president of the United States on the Republican ticket in 2008. He also ran in the 2000 Republican primary.
