'Injustice 2' Legendary Update: Gear, New Level Cap and Everything You Need to Know

Injustice 2 is getting a massive update to prepare players for the release of the Legendary Edition on March 27. Players will receive a new level cap for fighters, new augments, new gear a tutorial mode and much more.

NetherRealm Studios held a Twitch stream to detail what players should expect when the Injustice 2 Legendary Update drops on March 22, and we've broken down the most important points.

HOW TO GET INJUSTICE 2 LEGENDARY UPDATE

First and foremost, owners of the original Injustice 2 game or the Ultimate Edition will not have to purchase the Legendary update. Like a normal patch update, Injustice 2 owners will receive the latest version of the game with all the new content.

Players can also purchase Injustice 2 Legendary Edition on March 27, which includes all 10 DLC characters, skins and much more.

NEW LEVEL CAP AND REGEN TOKENS

The level cap in Injustice 2 is increasing from 20 to 30. To facilitate this massive change, NetherRealm Studios is converting all unused Regen Tokens into credits when the update drops on March 22. According to Netherrealm, this will maintain the integrity of the leveling mechanic.

Regen Tokens were coded into the game for Gear from Level 1 to Level 20. Now that Level 30 is the cap, instead of introducing a new currency NetherRealm will get rid of the old tokens and players will earn new Regen Tokens that will get gear from Level 1 to 30.

NEW GEAR SETS FOR CHARACTERS

There will be a lot of gear sets for characters in the new update. The Injustice 2 social accounts teased some of the new gear arriving with the Legendary update including Bruce Wayne gear so you can compete as the playboy himself. And the biggest improvement: Green Arrow is finally getting his hood.

MORE INVENTORY SLOTS

At Level 25, players receive 25 more Inventory Slots to stash their gear. This means less gear gets turned to scrap.

AUGMENTS

At Level 30, a character will gain access to an Augmented Slot and a batch of Augments to use. Augments in Injustice 2 act like Abilities in that they have a dedicated slot; however, Augments are not specialized like Abilities and can offer a variety of different buffs in battle.

Thus includes increased XP after battle, Increased Gear drops for your character, and increasing the damage output when your health is below 25 percent.

LEGENDARY MULTIVERSE

The DLC characters of Injustice 2 will be receiving Legendary Multiverse towers for players to earn Legendary gear. This is also a great way to level up these characters to Level 30 and earn gear at that level.

NEW TUTORIAL

A new tutorial mode will help turn casuals into more competitive players. There are lessons covering the Basics, Advanced Mechanics and even Combat Strategy to help players who are having trouble against a certain character or move.
