A dog's hilarious facial expression after he was woken from a nap has left the internet in stitches.
Posted on Wednesday on Reddit's r/aww forum, the picture is of the 10-year-old golden retriever called "Tall Guy."
"That face is the sign of a good nap right there," said one commenter on the Reddit post.
Living with his owner Yuki in China, the adorable pooch's post-nap expression has received over 9,000 upvotes on the social networking site.
Yuki told Newsweek: "One afternoon, we were having our nap time together. I woke up before him and saw his sleepy face—it was so cute that I had to capture it with my phone."
The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that dogs actually spend as much as half of their days asleep, with 30 percent of their time awake but relaxing and just 20 percent being active.
All dogs have different sleeping patterns, but older dogs and bigger breeds will generally spend more time dozing than smaller or younger pups.
As dogs age, it is likely that an increase in time asleep is perfectly normal, but the AKC does say that if you notice a sudden increase in your dog's sleeping time, or your dog is not eager to wake up and do their favorite things, it is a good idea to make an appointment with your veterinarian.
Yuki was overjoyed by his dog's hilarious expression. He said: "This is the first time I've seen him like this. He's always a sophisticated gentleman."
He was inspired to share the picture of Tall Guy after many visits to Reddit's r/aww forum: "I always love to visit r/aww," said Yuki. "It's such a cure to my mental health, so I really wanted to share my own 'awwness' with others."
Reddit's r/aww community describes itself as a space for "cute and cuddly pictures," and is frequently filled with adorable dogs and cute kittens. With more than 32 million members, it is the third-largest community on Reddit.
Online, other Redditors were thrilled to see the picture of the adorable golden retriever post-nap time. One commenter said: "What a sweet face and he's sooo floofy! I want to hug him!"
"In my house we call this a 'smushy face'," said another Redditor, while another wrote: "I thought the same! Sleepy dude looks like he's still re-congealing back into dog-mode."
"I feel this in my soul," joked another commenter.
"What a cutie," said another. "He deserves the best naps."
