IRS Offers Help to Americans Filing Taxes

With less than a week to go until the federal tax deadline, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced it is offering face-to-face help for those who may need assistance with their tax accounts.

On Saturday, April 13, Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs) will open around the country to offer in-person help for anyone with tax filing queries. The day is the last of several face-to-face TACS days that have taken place in recent months in the run up to the April 15 filing deadline.

IRS employees will be on hand to help with a variety of tasks, including making payments, authenticating identity, adjusting accounts, and helping with issues related to tax accounts. However, staff will not be able to help with tax preparation.

No appointment is required at any of the centers, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"IRS employees have been working hard throughout this tax season to help taxpayers, and the special Saturday hours are one more way we've expanded our services," said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel. "With the help of additional funding through the Inflation Reduction Act, we've been able to serve more taxpayers and provide additional assistance. For these special Saturday sessions, we encourage taxpayers to plan ahead so they have the right information."
