Ivanka Trump Speaks Out on Kate Middleton 'Speculation'

Former President Donald Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka Trump called the "speculation" about Princess of Wales Kate Middleton's health in the months leading up to her cancer announcement "disheartening" on social media on Friday.

The Context:

In January, Middleton underwent major abdominal surgery and Kensington Palace announced that she would not likely return to public duties until after Easter, which caused a slew of online conspiracies to transpire.

Middleton put all the rumors about her to bed on Friday when she announced that while her abdominal surgery was "successful," and, at the time, her condition was non-cancerous, "tests after the operation found cancer had been present."

What We Know:

Ivanka, whose father is the presumed GOP presidential nominee in the 2024 election, gave her "thoughts and prayers" to Middleton while also calling out those who feed into the conspiracy theories about the princess.

"I am deeply saddened to hear about Princess Kate's diagnosis. Amidst the trials she faces, her strength and grace continue to shine brightly," she wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday. "It's disheartening to see the speculation that has surrounded her, particularly during a time when support and kindness are most needed."

The former president's daughter added: "During this challenging period, my thoughts and prayers are with Kate and her family. I hope for her swift and full recovery, and I look forward to seeing her continue to inspire and make a positive impact in the lives of others. Let us all show our support by respecting her privacy and focusing on sending positive thoughts her way."

The White House responded to Middleton's diagnosis on Friday, calling it "terrible news."

Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, told reporters during a briefing that the Biden administration's thoughts are with Middleton, "her family members and friends during this incredibly difficult time."

She wished Middleton a "full recovery" and said, "I think it's important that we respect their privacy, especially at this time."

Meanwhile, King Charles III said he was "so proud" of his daughter-in-law for having the courage to speak out about her diagnosis through a Buckingham Palace spokesperson. Charles broke tradition last month when Buckingham Palace announced his own cancer treatment on his behalf.

What's Next?

While Middleton undergoes her cancer treatment, she said in her video message on Friday that she is "getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.

"Having [Prince] William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both."

Charles and his wife Camilla "will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time," the Buckingham Palace spokesperson said.
