Jada Pinkett Smith Causes More Confusion Over Will Smith Relationship

The spotlight has been on Jada Pinkett Smith and her husband, Will Smith, over the last few months after the news of the pair secretly separating several years ago dropped.

Attention has been ramping up on the Hollywood couple since the famous 2022 Oscar slap when Smith struck host Chris Tucker after he cracked a joke at Pinkett Smith's expense—and this all appeared to come to an explosive head in October.

There has been some back and forth on the debate as to whether they are still romantically involved or not after Pinkett Smith spoke to TV host Hoda Kotb on NBC's TODAY in October and implied that she and Smith had been separated since 2016. However, she returned to the show later to clarify that they were "working" to mend their relationship.

More has come to light about the duo, after fans got their hands on a copy of Pinkett Smith's memoir Worthy, which was also released in October. This has magnified both their scrutiny and admiration for fans and onlookers.

On The Drew Barrymore Show Tuesday, Pinkett Smith joined the actress-turned-host to promote her book and dropped another bombshell about her private life.

The interview added to the confusion already circling about the Smiths, with their seemingly on and off status being back on.

Barrymore, who had read the book, mentioned how it helped Pinkett Smith step out from Smith's, shadow and saying: "I feel like maybe your and his shadow separated in a way in this book, whether they stay together forever or not."

She quickly followed that with: "It sounds like you're staying together forever."

Pinkett Smith chimed in without any pause to say: "We're staying together forever, I tried. We tried." Her comments refer to several-year-long separations, with the pair now seeming to agree to stay together in a way that suits them both.

Pinkett Smith also shared that the book's chapters are all "Red Table takeaways," referring to her chat show, Red Table Talk, where notable guests often join her and discuss hard-hitting subject matter, among other themes.

During the interview, before she revealed she would stay with Smith "forever", she also shared that everyone is "on a journey to self-worth" and is trying to figure out their "value and loveableness," which led her to talk about Smith and their acceptance of one another.

Pinkett Smith said: "When you really learn how to accept yourself fully, you really learn how to accept your partner fully as well. And you know, that's been a journey all in itself.

"And you learn to how to accept everybody else, even when you are dealing with their shadow, you just learn how to embrace the light of people as well as the shadow.

"So I love Will as who he is, I've learned to love and embrace Chris [Rock] as who he is and myself as well."

A video clip of the interview was shared on The Drew Barrymore Show's YouTube channel on Tuesday, receiving over 13,000 views at the time this article was published.

One person commented: "Jada's book is awesome I had a bad opinion of her, now I don't. Amazing woman amazing story."

"Beautiful conversation," another shared while a second added: "Jada's statement is a lesson for all of us about the power of understanding and true love."

Others were not so convinced sharing questioning statements like "Well this was certainly a choice ...", "Drew, Drew, Drew... should've said no to this viper" and "Mixed feelings about this one."
