The mysterious story of a missing girl will be traveling across the United States on the side of a tractor trailer in an effort to generate new leads. Thirteen-year-old Jayme Closs went missing in October, after both of her parents were found dead of gunshot wounds inside their home in Barron, Wisconsin. Despite a nationwide search, Jayme still has not been located.
In an attempt to generate new information about the case, a massive billboard bearing Jayme's name and details is set to travel the country. The tractor trailer carrying the sign is from Karl's Transport and South Side Design and Graphics, the Barron County Sheriff's Department said on Facebook on Thursday.
The trailer depicts two photos of Jayme, along with the Barron County Sheriff's Office Tip Line and details about the 13 year old. She is identified as 5 feet tall and 100 pounds, with green eyes and blonde hair. The truck also has a sign explaining there is a "$25,000 reward for information on her whereabouts" and that Barron County is offering "an additional $50,000 for info."
The Sheriff's Office thanked Karl's Transport and South Side Design and Graphics for the trailer in a Facebook post.
"It is their, and the rest of the country, deepest desire for Jayme to be found and hope that this will help," Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald wrote.
Jayme was reported missing on October 15, after police were called to her parents' home. Officers found the front door kicked in and both of her parents dead of gunshot wounds, but no sign of the 13-year-old. Authorities issued an Amber Alert, and a nationwide search for the girl ensued. Despite thousands of tips, Jayme remains missing.
Authorities also added Jayme to the FBI's missing persons list in the wake of her disappearance, combed through surveillance and pursued tips in an effort to find the girl.
"We believe Jayme was in the home at the time of the homicides, and we believe she's in danger," Fitzgerald said in October.
Months later, authorities are still working on the case. The local community held a vigil around Christmas time for Jayme, expressing hope that she would be found safe.
"We're just so grateful for community support," said her uncle, Mike Closs, according to WITI-TV. "You know, she's out there. We want her to come home safe and sound."
